This is not strictly a restaurant and is certainly not in the Languedoc, but my family recently stayed here and were so impressed, I felt I had to share it. The standard of accomodation is probably as good as I have had anywhere. Patrick, the owner is very welcoming and helpful with advice about where to visit in the area and the evening meals are to die for. (If you want to eat in the evening, YOU MUST ARRANGE IN ADVANCE). Off road secure parking. English spoken.

An entire hamlet of independently restored 16th century houses. The "Hammeau de Valouse" is a family run hotel, set in 60 hectares, with its own large swimming pool and restaurant. We have stayed here and the welcome was exceptional. This is a quiet holiday location suited for lovers of the country, and is surrounded by mountains and gorges. It lies within easy reach of many Provencal attractions.

Located just over the border in Spain and not far from Prats-de-Mollo is a charming and very friendly hotel. Their restaurant serves up some extremely nice meals. It is essential to make a reservation if you require a meal during the weekends or Spanish fete days.

On Nems - Saveurs d'Asie

Located in the middle of Ouveillan, this is a small but extremely friendly restaurant. There is seating for just 8 people in the interior. The lady owner is very friendly and speaks both French and English. The food was very good and a large choice.

This is an unusual restaurant for this region and a welcome addition for those missing Asian style cooking. TAKE AWAY AVAILABLE

"Nomada" - Vendres Plage

Situated on the beach at Vendres Plage close to the Casino. This restaurant looks almost like a Beduin campsite set in the middle of the beach. The food was excellent and the service good and friendly.

It's location gives it that something extra from a normal restaurant.

Meals are only a la carte during the evening.

Open from May to the end of September. It is advisable to make a reservation.

Auberge La Salette Bize-Minervois

On the route National between Beziers and Carcassonne, at Bize.

The appearance of the outside of this restaurant is spoilt by the surrounding, temporary fence of the adjacent garage, but the moment you open the door you are met by a cosy ambience and friendly staff. The meals are excellent. Menus from 17€ to 30€.

"Les Bergeries de Pondérach" - Saint-Pons, Herault

On the Route to Narbonne at Saint-Pons-de-Thomières, is set amidst lush greenery, in a 17th century farmhouse.. Your host is a former art gallery owner who has decorated each room with taste and elegance. The ambience of this restaurant is second to none but the prices do tend to reflect that. The meals are well presented and flavourful, using fresh local products. Gilles LENTIN, your host, is a fluent english speaking Anglophone. There are 7 rooms.

"La Vinca" Steak House - Rosas,Spain

Whilst not within the Region Languedoc - Roussillon. The Steak House is close enough across the border in Spain as to make it easily accessible. It can be found by taking the National road through the border at La Perthus and continuing past La Jonquera for about 8kms. Take the first signposted road towards Rosas. The restaurant can be found about 20kms further on near the village of Garriguella, and on the right hand side of the main road. First impressions on entering this restaurant is that you will need a bank loan for the meal. The meals, in fact, are extremely reasonable. Do not go to this restaurant if you are not hungry.

La Masia Restaurant, La Bisbal, Spain

La Masia is a large restaurant that, from the outside,  looks a rambling barn of a place, but once inside the doors all that changes. The entrance leads into a bar and from there into the restaurant. The meals tend towards country cooking, but are not only tasty but very well presented. The service is also extremely good. It can be found about 3 miles south of La Bisbal, famous for its ceramics on the road to the Costa Brava and Palamos.

The Cafe de la Paix has had the reputation of serving enormous meals. The meals have been moderated slightly but are excellent. The restaurant is situated at the rear of the bar and there is a very pleasant, open air courtyard for the summer months.
