Cheese and Ham Squares
These are an excellent snack or for
aperitifs
INGREDIENTS
Two sheets of ready rolled flaky pastry
(mille feuille)
Sliced ham
Hard cheese (Gruyere or emmental)
Mustard
Beaten egg
Pre heat the oven to Gas mark 7, 425
degs f, or 220 degs c.
Lay out one sheet of flaky pastry.
Spread a light coating of mustard over the pastry.
Lay over the slices of ham, followed by
thin slices of cheese. Lightly coat the second sheet of pastry with mustard.
Brush the edges of the first sheet with the egg wash and then lay the second
sheet on top with the mustard facing the cheese. Brush with beaten egg.
Cut into bite size pieces and place onto
baking sheet. Cook until golden.
They can be frozen after allowing them
to cool.
