The gardens of St Adrien are one of the most spectacular sites
in our region. Set in an old quarry dating back to medieval
times. The quarry has been transformed by Daniel & his wife
Francoise, into what is essentially a private garden that is open
to the public.
When Daniel Malgouyres told his future wife that
it was his dreams to purchase an old quarry, close to Pézenas,
where he had played as a child, she thought that it was "an
insane project". The site had become overgrown, and littered with
stones. For many years it was the dumping ground for the
carcasses of cars.
Between them, they
cleared the 4 hectares of land, without help, and had to get rid
of tons of rubble, some of which they used to construct a house.
Earth was dug in and around the quarry, and then planting started.
There are lawns, and walks alongside natural rocks, that skirt
around four large water areas. There are many areas of shade,
where seats have been sensibly placed, to enable you to take in the beauty of
this garden. A stage has been built next to one of the small
lakes, and during the summer, concerts are held here
This is a fabulous garden and should not be missed.

extraordinaire jardin paysager.
